Yashua, Yeshua?? Christian baptism?

Why is Christian baptism, dating back only subsequent to 135 CE or the 4th century CE, so different from tevilah (immersion in a miqveh) known by a 1st-century CE Pharisaic Ribi called Yehoshua [Aramaic Yeshua], yet so similar to Hellenist Greek and Roman ablutions to their idols? [1]

Learn history–in the real world of the real Creator. And remember that Torah commands you not to follow the majority in doing wrong – in a verse of Shemot – ‘Exodus’ – 23.

Christians says that ‘ Yahshua’ and his followers came with a new religion. Netzarim Jews and gerim – non-Jewish Torah-observant proselytes – say that Rabbi Yeshua – the Messiah – taught the religion of Torah, i.e. taught his followers to keep the directives of Torah non-selectively.

Yahshua or Yeshua – Christian church?

Hello!

You wrote: ” Thus the city where the first Gentile Church was formed (Acts 11:20-21); where the disciples were first called Christians (Acts 11:26);”

Here is a post about Rabbi Yeshua and what he taught.

[Click on the links for documentation of statements.]

It is often assumed that the Messiah came with a new religion.

Let’s see what’s written in the prophecies of the Jewish Bible..

Here is one of the prophecies in the Tana’’ch about the Mashiach:

“In those days and at that season I will implant a Tzëmakh of tzedâqâh for Dâwid, and he shall make mishpât and tzedâqâh in hâ-Âretz” (Yirmeyâhu[”Jeremiah”] 33.15).

The Mashiach – the Messiah – will make mishpat [See definition on this link].

Keeping mishpat implies doing ones best to keep the directives of Torah non-selectively.

According to the prophecies the Messiah would come in the first century. Ribi Yehoshua died in the first century and is the only candidate of being the Mashiach – Messiah.

We can learn from the Messianic prophecies he didn’t start a new religion, but taught his followers to observe Torah and mishpat non-selectively. He taught Torah, not a religion that contradicts to Torah.

Following his teachings leads oneself into non-selectively Torah-observance, including an immensely meaningful relationship with the Creator – Blessed is He.

Yeshua, Yahshua? Torah or ‘gospels’?

Timothy wrote:”The fact remains that the new testament manuscripts are the best attested documents in all of judaica. in fact they are the best attested ancient documents period.”

Here is my reply to him: The following will discern whether they are reliable or not [Click on the links for documentation.]:

The first century Rabbi Yeshua ha-Mashiach – the Messiah - from Nazareth was called a Ribi (redacted in “the gospel of Matthew” to the greek word for “rabbi”), which implies he was a Ribi – a title with a similar meaning to ‘rabbi’ – and thus had Rabbinical ordination from Raban Jamlieil, the president of the beit din ha-Jadol – the great Judaic Supreme Court. This was uncontested.

This and the fact that his apprentice students Netzarim were in good standing in the Jewish community implies that Rabbi Yeshua was always in good standing in the Jewish community. Thus we can know that his teachings were perfectly in accordance with the Torah.

Lets’ compare Torah and Rabbi Yeshuas teachings with what Christians say that ‘Yahshua’ taught – the ‘gospels’.

Yeshayâhu [’Isaiah’] 1.17-18: ‘Wash up, clear yourself.… Learn [what is] good, seek mishpât.… Prithee come, let us reprove,’ says HaSheim, ‘If your kheitare like scarlet they shall be whitened like snow.’”

As stipulated in Devarim ["Deuteronomy"] 6:4-9,11:13-21 one is required to keep all of the directives of Torâh′ to one’s utmost—viz., “with all one’s heart, psyche and might [lit. "very"]“—”for the purpose of extending your days and the days of your children… like the days of the heavens above the earth” (i.e., eternal life). According to the Tan’’kh -Yekhezeqeil ["Ezekiel"] chapter 18 et.al –  the Creator confer His atonement in His loving kindness to those turning away from their Torah-transgressions and (re)turning to non-selectively Torah-observance including mishpat.

Clearly, seeking mishpat is required in order to be forgiven by the Creator according to the above verses.

This contradicts the ‘gospel’-teachings that Christians say Yahshua – the name some of Christians use – taught.

This implies that “the gospels” contain words he never taught and that they have been redacted [based on note 2]. Simple, if he would have taught the “Christian gospel” he wouldn’t have been in good standing in the Jewish Pharisaic community [note 2].

Secondly,

Even according to the most authoritative Christian scholars, e.g., The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible, acknowledges that the “NT” has been heavily redacted.

They write: “ Many thousands of the variants which are found in the MSS of the NT were put there deliberately. They are not merely the result of error or careless handling of the text. Many were created for theological or dogmatic reasons”

[Read more in www.netzarim.co.il; ”Glossaries”; ”NT” about the redaction of the ”NT”.]

It is possible to use a formal logical methodology – based on well documented premises – to derive historical facts from the “gospels”; and to filter out Hellenist redactions. However, do you claim that they are reliable?

Dead Sea Scroll 4Q MMT is for example a good attested Judaic document.

Yahshua vs. Yeshua

This blog will be abou Yeshua – the Messiah. Some say that the name of the Messiah was ‘Yashua’, however the according to a prophecy in the Tana’’ch – in the book of Zakharyah – ‘Sakhariah’ – his name will be Yehoshua.

Click on the words below in order to get explanations of the words. It contains very important facts.

Yәho•shu′aי--ה [is] national-salvation or military-salvation; contracted to the cognomen יְשוּעַ (Yәshua), from the unused root verb יַשַׁע (to deliver nationally or militarily, to save nationally or militarily). This term is never used of the Hellenist (idolatrous) concept of “personal salvation” in the Bible or in Judaism. The verb is used in the hiph•ilהוֹשִׁיעַ (ho•shia; he saved nationally or militarily, delivered nationally or militarily or came to the rescue nationally or militarily). The verb is used in the same sense as its English counterpart was used in the old west: “The calvary will save us”—except for Jews ha-Sheim will save us (nationally and militarily from our enemies). There is no support for the idolatrous “personal salvation” doctrine of Christianity. At the personal level there is, instead, ki•pur—restricted to those who do their utmost to keep Tor•âh.

The book in Ta•na”kh is named after Yәho•shua Bën-Nun (Hellenized to ‘Joshua’).

‘Historical Yәho•shua‘ generally refers, by contrast, to the 1st-century human Jew, a Pәrush•i Ribi, named Yәho•shua Bën-Yo•seiph Bën-Dâ•wid of Nâ•tzәr•at. Notice that even the name explicitly identifies Y–Hnot Yәho•shua, as salvation! See Shәm•ot 15.2; Yәsha•yâhu 12.1-4; 25.9; Yon•âh 2.10; Tәhil•im 3.9; 13.6; 14.7; 18.51; 21.6; 28.8; 53.7; 62.1-2, 7; 67.1-3; 68.20-21; 70.5-6; 74.12). His Mâ•shiakh is His agent, not the reverse; not the Provider of expiation. By means of the Mâ•shiakh—His Mâ•shiakh Bën-Yo•seiph Bën- Dâ•wid (Tәhil•im89:20-53)—י--ה provides expiation. Mâ•shiakh is merely His instrument, symbol or illustration; as were the animal sacrifices.

יְשׁוּעָה (Yәshu•âh; salvation) is a fem. noun.

See also Tәhil•im 116.13; 18.51; 20.6; 28.8; 89.27-28; 118.19-22.

The Judaic meaning of יְשׁוּעָה relates to two associated synonyms:

See also the Biblical concepts of כִּפּוּר (ki•pur) and הָעוֹלָם הַבָּא (hâ-o•lâm ha-bâ).

Syncretizing selected elements of the Judaic concept of a Mâ•shiakh with their native pagan mythology, Roman gentiles de-Judaized (Hellenized) ‘historical Yәho•shua‘ to a mythical and counterfeit, antinomian, antithetical man-G-o-d idol: Ιησους, later anglicized to  (cf. Who Are the Nәtzâr•im? (WAN) and The Nәtzâr•im Reconstruction of Hebrew Ma•tit•yâhu (NHM)). These two are mutually exclusive, diametric opposites. To believe in one is to reject the other. [Source]

The Hebrew name contains a ו. A ו is always pronunced. There must be an o-sign in the pronunciation of יהושע.
